BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENTS

Robert J. Brunner is an Associate Professor of Astronomy, a Research Scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), and a Center Affiliate at the Institute for Advanced Computing Applications and Technologies (IACAT) at the University of Illinois.  Robert is currently a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study and is an expert in the formation of structure in the universe and the relationship between supermassive black holes and galaxy formation and evolution.  Robert has authored three books, edited two more, and authored over 100 refereed articles.  Since his arrival on campus in 2002, he has supervised research projects for twelve undergraduate and nine graduate students, and is currently the Ph.D. supervisor for six graduate students.  He represents his department in the Urbana-Champaign Senate, is a member of the department’s executive committee, serves as an undergraduate advisor, and has chaired his department’s Graduate Admission Committee and Computer Committee.  He has developed a new graduate level Astrophysics course, leads outreach activities at local schools, and led the development of an Astronomy module for GEMS; an outreach program led by NCSA for middle-school age girls.

JoAnn Jacoby is an Associate Professor of Library Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she serves as Anthropology and Sociology Subject Specialist in the Education and Social Science Library.  JoAnn is completing a term on the Faculty Advisory Committee and has served on a number of other campus and college committees, including the Senate Committee on the Budget.

Craig M. Koslofsky, has served on the Faculty Advisory Committee since 2004.  He is an Associate Professor of History, with research focused in early modern (c. 1400-1800) European social and cultural history.  His research has been supported by fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Newberry Library, and the Center for Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Studies at UCLA.  He was appointed research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for History, Göttingen, Germany (1994-95).

Craig has served on his department’s Undergraduate Program and Teaching Awards Committees and on the department's Graduate Admissions and Graduate Placement Committees.  His undergraduate teaching has been recognized by awards from his department, the College of LAS, and the Office of the Provost.

K. Peter Kuchinke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resource Education, College of Education.  He joined the UIUC faculty in 1997 after 15 years of professional experience in organization development and change working with a wide variety of institutions and organizations.  His educational preparation at Antioch University, UCLA, and the University of Minnesota includes training in counseling psychology, business administration, and human resource development with focus on structural developmental psychology, adult education and development, and organizational behavior.  His current research interests include cross-cultural comparative studies in workforce and human resource education and the changing meaning of work.

Billie Jean Theide joined the faculty in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1985.  She is Professor of Art and Chair of the Crafts Program in the School of Art and Design.  Professor Theide has been elected to two three-year terms on the Faculty Advisory Committee and has served as FAC Chair since Fall 2005.  Professor Theide has been an active member of the Urbana-Champaign Senate and its committees: Academic Freedom and Tenure, Student Discipline, and the Committee on Committees.  Additionally, she served appointed terms on the College of Fine and Applied Arts Academic Disciplinary Committee, and presently serves on her College’s Executive Committee.  Her service on departmental committees is extensive; presently she is serving on the School's Executive Committee, Bylaws Committee, and Curriculum Committee.  Professor Theide served as Chair of the Capricious Grading Committee, elected terms on the School's Grievance Committee, as a member of the Minority Affairs and Affirmative Action Committee, mentor committees for tenure-track junior faculty, and on several faculty search committees.  Professionally, Professor Theide served a five-year elected term on the Board of Directors of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and served an elected term as President from 1994 through 1998.

John Wagstaff has been Head of the UIUC Music and Performing Arts Library since 2005. British by birth, prior to his arrival in Illinois he worked for 16 years as Head of the Music Faculty Library at the University of Oxford, and prior to that spent five years as Music Librarian of King's College, University of London.  Within the University Library here in Urbana-Champaign he serves on the Library's Executive Committee and is currently Chair of its Promotion and Tenure Committee.  He is also active as a music librarianship educator, both at Illinois and at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK.
